Your experience

Your 4-day program

Four days generally running from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a lunch break. The program remains flexible according to the weather, conditions and your progression.

Day 1

Assess your technique and discover mouthfill

A first day to observe your technique, define priorities and establish the foundations of FRC and mouthfill.

Depth training - ocean session

Equipment setup followed by a first session to assess your strengths and refine relaxation, finning, hydrodynamics and vertical alignment.

Lunch break

Time to recover and discuss the morning before the theory session.

FRC and mouthfill theory

An introduction to FRC and mouthfill equalization, supported by progressive dry exercises.

Day 2

Develop your technique

A day to prepare the body, test equipment and work on equalization, static and dynamic apnea.

Technical session

At Ta’ahiamanu: stretching, Otovent and a spirometer test, followed by a session focused on FRC and mouthfill, with the option to try a nose clip, goggles and a neck weight.

Lunch break

Recovery and a review of the morning’s sensations.

Static and dynamic apnea

A lagoon session with varied static and dynamic exercises adapted to each freediver’s level and objectives.

Day 3

Apply the skills and build your training plan

Use FRC and mouthfill at depth, then learn how to organize recovery and continued progression.

Depth training - ocean session

Progressive application of FRC and mouthfill at greater depth, adapted to your sensations and the day’s conditions.

Lunch break

One hour to recover before the second part of the day.

Nutrition, recovery and training

Theory on nutrition, recovery and training programs, followed by the creation of your own plan and the AIDA 4 written exam.

Day 4

Depth, rescue and performance

Consolidate deep-safety skills and finish the course with a final session adapted to your interests.

Depth training - ocean session

Deep-rescue practice and technical ascents, with the option to work on constant weight no fins or discover variable weight according to the group’s interests.

Lunch break

Recovery before the final session of the course.

Static and dynamic apnea

A final static and dynamic session with personalized training and a performance attempt according to each freediver’s goals.

What to bring

  • Swimwear, towel, water and sunscreen
  • Your mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit and weight belt if you have them; any missing equipment is provided

Certification requirements

AIDA 4 validation criteria

AIDA 3 certification and a First Aid course including CPR completed within the last two years are required. The following performance requirements must also be completed.

  • Static apnea: 3 min 30 sec
  • Dynamic apnea with bifins: 70 metres
  • Constant weight with bifins: 32 metres
  • Theory exam: minimum score of 75%
