Your experience

Your 2-day program

Two progressive days to build strong foundations, gain independence and validate the AIDA 2 skills.

Day 1

Build the foundations

Understand how the body responds, find relaxation and establish the first technical reference points.

Theory and dry exercises

Freediving physiology, breathing, equalization and essential safety rules, followed by dry breathing and relaxation exercises.

Static and safety

Relaxation and breathing in the water, progressive static exercises, buddy protocols and surface rescue techniques.

Depth

Free immersion and constant weight with fins to work on relaxation, duck dives, finning, head position, streamlining and turns.

Lunch break

We continue over a poke bowl at Ta’ahiamanu Beach: one hour to eat and recover.

AIDA 2 theory exam

Take the theory exam to validate the knowledge developed during the course.

Videos and day 2 preparation

Review the GoPro videos, identify first areas for progress and set goals for the second day.

Day 2

Practice with greater independence

Develop technique, depth and the safety skills required for certification.

Static apnea

A short static warm-up to reconnect with the sensations and relax.

Depth, buoyancy and rescue

Free immersion and constant weight to develop surface relaxation, streamlining and technique. We also work on weighting, buoyancy exercises, lanyard use, shallow-water rescue, breaststroke ascents and no-mask ascents.

Lunch break

Lunch over a poke bowl at Ta’ahiamanu Beach, followed by recovery before the final session.

Dynamic apnea

A session to find your rhythm and improve finning, glide and relaxation, followed by the final course review.

What to bring

  • Swimwear, towel, water and sunscreen
  • Your mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit and weight belt if you have them; any missing equipment is provided

Certification requirements

AIDA 2 validation criteria

To earn the AIDA 2 certification, the following theory and performance requirements must be completed.

  • Static apnea: 2 minutes
  • Dynamic apnea with bifins: 40 metres
  • Constant weight with bifins: 12 metres
  • Theory exam: minimum score of 75%
